ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES AND ASSESSMENTS

Rigorous Environmental Assessment Work Underway

Throughout 2023, the project has been collecting data to submit an Environmental Assessment, which includes a comprehensive analysis of the potential environmental impacts of the project. Our dedicated project consultant, CBCL, is guiding the process and is providing detailed studies including:

  • Wetlands and watercourses surveys
  • Vegetation and habitat surveys
  • Bird and bat surveys
  • Moose surveys
  • Sound and visual assessments
  • Electromagnetic assessments
  • Archaeological assessments
  • Telecommunication assessments

The Project Development Team is collaborating with Membertou Geomatics Solutions, who are being contracted to complete Mi'kmaq knowledge studies (MEKS). These studies ensure the EA is informed by and inclusive of the Mi'Kmaq perspectives on the proposed land base.

The Development Team expects EA activities to be completed and submitted to the Province in winter 2023/2024.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT WORK

We are actively pursuing development efforts on this Project:

  • Indigenous and stakeholder consultation
  • Public consultation
  • Preliminary Project design based on environmental data, local land use, wind resource and stakeholder feedback
  • Wind resource analysis
  • Permitting activities
  • Interconnection request with Nova Scotia Power Inc.
  • Interconnection feasibility study
